Middletown For the Union: Tour of Civil War Landmarks of Middletown
Join us on a pleasant walk around downtown and Wesleyan University to discover the rich Civil War history of Middletown, with costumed members of the 14th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, Co. G, and members of the Middlesex County Historical Society.
March along with us to tour Civil War sites around Middletown, with brief remarks along the way by several local historians, including Buck Zaidel, author with Di Longley of Heroes for All Time: Connecticut Civil War Soldiers Tell Their Stories. After the downtown tour (2 miles), participants will walk or drive to Indian Hill Cemetery where the tour will continue (.5 mile) and end at General Joseph King Fenno Mansfield’s grave.
Your suggested donation of $10 will be used to support the Historical Society’s efforts to maintain the General Mansfield House, and to preserve Civil War battlefields. Make your pledge by contacting Executive Director Debby Shapiro at 860-346-0746 or email@example.com; or by filling out the form below. You can pay at the march or send a check payable to: Middlesex County Historical Society, General Mansfield House, 151 Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
